Developing
Unrelenting Willpower

Reminds me of this refrain in the stanzas of the Broke and Invisible:
"I'd rather be happy than rich…."
If that isn't the all-time stupidest thing a human can say,
send me competing options this week…
Well OK, here's one. I asked two people this week if they would sell me a domain
name they own that happens to coincidentally be the exact title of one of
my books.
One guy, Warren, said, "of course."
The other guy, bleh blah, said, "my attorney has advised me to
protect future interests and not sell domains at any price."
So, yes, there is something more foolish than, I'd rather be "happy
than rich."
That would be, "I'd rather have a domain URL that I'll never use because
it's the title of my competitor's book, but at least I believe he
won't be able to get it and that's worth the small price of losing a friend."
So anyway, back to Roberto and friends...
These guys were so happy...and good looking, and wealthy...and smart...
and nice...dang!
And your sister would rather be fat than unhappy?
Another one of those mutually exclusive ILLUSIONS that people
WITHOUT WILLPOWER make up out of thin air.
I mean after all, wouldn't you rather be a baseball player than
a Christian?
Your sister, trying to justify her own laziness is basically saying:
"In my limited world, what they are doing is unrealistic, the way they parade men like this around…it's sinful…it sets up unrealistic expectations for our young people. We'd much rather them be stupid, ugly, dumb,
broke…."
...oh and of course then they'll be happy.
Continuing along that line of thought...
These guys really screw things up for the rest of us… I mean
they are nothing but sex/health/money objects...workin' out, bein' healthy,
smart, making money. And then guys like me look at them and
develop mental disorders because well, we are not as pretty as they are.
It just isn't fair. So, I will make fun of them, and ridicule
them and tell people who aspire to these kinds of things that
they shouldn't. And all of those like me will make sure that pop psychologists get on TV to say that people shouldn't strive to do these things because
it will only result in bulimia, anorexia, narcissism…or god forbid...good
health, longevity, lifetime personal freedom, wealth or some
other problem.
Oh, and also, there is a much greater danger…
Helping or Hurting?
Roberto is an IMMIGRANT.
Ugh. Coming to my country and being good looking, healthy,
strong, living in Vegas and ….HOW DARE THEY LET THESE PEOPLE
IN….build the fences higher…then I won't have to work so dang
hard.
KEYPOINT: You want to be like an immigrant.
You want to put as much into your life as does the guy on a raft that comes to America. You want to have the best possible life and that means you have to take charge of your life and build
your willpower to the level of being willing to leave your comfort zone (like living in a country where people speak your language) to going to where you
can't even communicate with other people. SEE YOURSELF AS AN IMMIGRANT.
But no, a lot of people think like this:
Put these immigrant people back on the raft. They are screwing
everything up here… I mean, SURE, they're paying taxes and building
small businesses that give REAL AMERICANS jobs. (How dare they?)
We know the smart thing to do is get that fence WAAAY up
there….keep in all the stupid, ugly, broke people and by default
feel better about ourselves…especially our poor suffering young
people who struggle with thinking that it's possible to be
smart, healthy or wealthy.
