Developing
Unrelenting Willpower
by Kevin Hogan
I was lifting weights at the gym one ordinary Saturday morning.
Since I was doing the last set of ten and I'm not exactly the
Governor of California, my hands were shaking violently from muscle
tension.
A little voice in the back of my head kept nagging
"It's really enough for today. Let go… Relax…You already look
fit enough to me" Again my will was battling my laziness. And
then it hit me like an apple hit the top of Einstein's head.
Only in my case it was a steel beam that was about to land on
my head.
HELLO?
Do you really think I was in the gym Saturday morning?
When was the last time you saw someone who earned…
more than minimum wage in the gym?
(Roberto M, Jason S, Gene M, and Tom….shut up…you guys are
exceptions.)
OK, I guess I gotta tell ya'...
Roberto is so damn good-looking it irritates me. He came to
this country, MY country, didn't speak a word of English. Went
to work for Tony Robbins, became the number one sales rep for
Tony in the world. The guy is smart, good looking, has a bank
account, lives in Vegas even….
I thought well, hey he probably DOESN"T have a personality.
He DID.
He's a heckuva nice guy who cares about people.
The big jerk. (wink)
Well, I'll bet he's like one of those idiot savants or maybe
just an idiot.
Nope.
ARGGHHH.
Take Home Factor: If an immigrant who can't speak
English can succeed, can you?
Better to Be Happy Than Rich?
And then young kids look up to them and say, "I can be like
that," when of course, we all KNOW they can't. They are better
off not thinking about their weight/income/intelligence. Better
to be fat/broke or dumb...
....after all you'd rather be fat than unhappy…right?
...because they couldn't actually WORK toward wealth and health
and have time left to be happy?!
KEYPOINT: Most people truly believe that work is mutually exclusive from
wealth and/or health...that it's an either/or. This is THEIR own life limiting
belief. Not yours or mine.
