...You Say You Want a Resolution....
Seven New Steps to Getting What You Want

Baby You Can Drive My Car
But can YOU make a "resolution" and say "aye" or "nay"
before a bunch of other goof balls, have no responsibility
or self discipline involved, and then go play golf?
...problem is that you see bad behavior rewarded over and
over again, and you want to do what the bad behavior guys do.
But you can't.
You have to take a resolution and do something with it.
Ugh....That's the "Do" part of the "Be" "Do" "Have" triangle.
You seriously can't entertain an impotent resolution.
Your desires for the coming year are now transformed by the power
vested in me by you to be Revolutions... and they are within
your direct control. They require motion, emotion, action,
reaction, self-regulation, self-discipline, telling the world.
....way easier to rub the damn lamp...
Revolution seems like...effort is required...Resolution is just
Congress saying, "Aye."
That's the difference.
Tax Man
If you thought passing this "Health Care Bill" was a grand stroke,
you can now re-evaluate that thought...because that kind of
thinking to be forced upon a nation will continue to shred the
ethical fabric of many of those living in the nation.
It's not a political issue. It's a psychological issue.
A) Never reward behavior you want eliminated.
B) Don't make resolutions and have someone else be responsible
for it.
C) If you want something, YOU pay for it.
(So if you want a banker to get the bonus and continue corruption,
pay the bonus. If you want the guy to stay unemployed, write
the unemployment check. If you want the fat guy to stay fat, give
him more cookies...101...)
And all of this explains why people are the same today as they are
yesterday, over and over and over and over again and again.
I thought Tony Robbins' quip, "Your Past Does Not Equal
Your Future," was such a great summation...of what is
an excellent frame to ponder possibilities.
But it's not how people are hooked up.
Most people don't want to do that "effort" thing....
It's not natural.
And by the way Tony is 100% right for those who See, Believe,
Begin, Continue, Finish.
Got to Get You into My Life
Let's look at a few quick "resolutions" people will make
for the year coming up.
(Notice they didn't start losing weight TODAY....)
There are only a few things people will "make a resolution
for" in the coming year.
- They want to stop being fat.
- They want to stop being paycheck to paycheck.
- They want to stop an addiction.
- They want to stop working where they work.
- They want to stop doing something they abhor.
And all of the above are the same thing. To complete, they
all require the same mental process.
But wait,
- I want to write a book.
- I want to be healthy.
- I want to have a new job.
- I want to do something I love.
If you read The 168 Hour Week: Living Life Your Way 24/7, you already
know those are not concrete statements and abstraction will get
you absolutely nothing. They don't "work." They don't trigger
emotions. They do make you feel good, but feeling good is not an
emotion.
