Q. Kevin, let's start with you and then talk specifically about
what our listeners need to do. In your field, what is the
biggest factor in moving from distrust or potential lack of
credibility to the trust side of the continuum?
A. My work...my task is to allow trust and credibility to be
non-issues, to become "given's"...
At www.KevinHogan.com for example, a couple of the things we do
are simple, not secret and very effective.
Use Testimonials. A significant amount of my business is generated and transacted
on the Internet. I can't meet everyone I do business with, so I have
to rely on hundreds of testimonials, all unsolicited, on the front of
KevinHogan.com.
Because people are smart enough to know that most companies
write their own testimonials, we additionally use first name,
last name, city, state, country and often website - if the person
has one.
Why?
We want there to be no doubt. I want the person thinking about
buying Science of Influence to not wonder for a second about
anything except the value of the program.
But there is more.
Write Relevant Articles. There are literally hundreds of articles written
by me on the website... with links on the front page in the various
categories of which I might be known to have some expertise.
That much unique information, information that is not redundant
with other material on the Internet creates an encyclopedic
resource for the browser.
Publish Your Image. We use plenty of images of myself on the website, not because
I like to look at myself....I don't...but as we'll talk about later,
it can be very helpful to access the halo effect of others,
whether Boot Camp attendees, other speakers, celebrities
from all walks of life, along with magazines I've been in and books
that have been translated into languages all over the world.
And the halo effect is only a tiny piece of a Trust-Pie. Everything
works in tandem with everything else.
And this is the first outcome I have. People come to the website
and they don't wonder if they can trust what is here. They simply
do because there are no un-credible elements.
For the listener, I want you to use these elements in your
own business both online and off.
By the way, don't put all of your testimonials on your front page.
Google doesn't like to see more than 50 links on a page. We
have better than 500 and believe it or not, that is not google-friendly.
All that for another day....
Register YOURNAME.COM. YOU want to have YOURNAME.com because THAT is credibility. If someone has bought it, buy it from them or use .net. Don't go too
far down the line because people DO filter the
"kevinhoganhereonthenetonlinetodayandheshappy.com" as being
a bit ridiculous.
The biggest action for entrepreneurs, salespeople, and marketers is
to get evidence stacked up on your website and put it out there.
Make it easy to believe in you.
People google everything nowadays. Make yourself google-able and
google-likeable.
